Many years ago, I had earned my Associates Degree in Elementary Education, and I was studying Business and Accounting at Brigham Young University on academic scholarship . For those who know, the Marriott School of Management was the number 2 Accounting School in the nation at the time. While attending BYU, I met my sweetheart, Jason McKee, and we married just before my senior year. I left school and took a full time job to help put my husband through the accounting program. I worked doing computer technical support for Mcafee AntiVirus and Gateway. Within a few short months, I was being offered a supervisory role and a complete education and certification to run the major networks at that time. But our first baby was on the way, and my husband received a job offer in the Uintah Basin. I walked away from those opportunities and have been putting my children first ever since. I Love my Family and I have Never regretted those choices. I'm not sure anyone but my immediate family has ever heard that story. I tell you this for one reason only. I want you to understand the kinds of things that motivate me.
I want the voters in this district to understand that I have chosen to run for this office, because I want my children and the children in our communities to have thriving elementary schools. Our beautiful school in Lapoint has experienced teacher and student turnover at concerning rates. This needs to be resolved and that is absolutely possible. I also understand that all schools on the West Side have unique issues and concerns. Their needs are not met with cookie cutter policies designed for schools in Salt Lake or even other schools in Vernal. Helping our Community is my Motivation! I am not doing it for recognition. I am not doing it to keep my taxes low, although I am fiscally conservative. I am not doing it for the Insurance. I Love our Kids and Community and I know I have the perspective and skills to help at this time. I want to Serve and I hope you will give me that opportunity.
